Here is a photo I just got to process. I took it this summer, but with a dead computer, I got a bit delayed on developing photos.

All of the dragonflies were very indifferent to me, not even caring if I got within a few inches of them with the front of the lens.

This is a tribute to my Grandfather. He is the reason I'm a photographer, and the reason I shoot with Pentax. He died 10 years ago, and try as hard as I may, I can't stop memories of him from fading away.

So, my computer died this August, and I just replaced it today with a brand spanking new MacBook! I just got the base model, but I have 4GB of RAM on the way from Newegg to really make it scream.

Sorry about my long absence, and thank you ghostwriter for a nerd game post.

I liked the color that I got with these leaves, even in the dead of winter.

So anyways, I've been a bit busy with work and school to post much, in fact I was a bit busy to shoot until last week. I know I said I was going to post more, but it just got away from me.
I really like shooting film, but unfortunately, I just can't afford to continue to shoot film now. Besides film cost and processing costs, I really would need to get a film scanner, and the one I want runs in the mid $400s. That is not the real issue though. Nikon seems to be quietly discontinuing the model, as it is only available every 5 months or so. That would only leave the $900 model, which is out of my budget. The answer to all of this is to get a Pentax dSLR. It seems the perfect time to buy one as Pentax is giving some rather major updates right now.
I'll post more (hopefully) from now on. And expect lots of photos, and a possible domain change when I get my dSLR.

Hi all. Here is my post explaining my absence. As you know from most of the posts, I have developed a love of photography (NPI). In fact, I love it so much, that I have decided to study it. I am changing schools for the fall semester (most likely to UMass Amherst), and am going to try and study Photography and graphic arts technology. As some of you know I have been working in Digital Printing/ Preress for close to five years now, so this isn't a terribly huge jump. I will try and keep you all updated on what is going on, and how my photography is going. Stay tuned this week for why I am shooting more film than digital photos.

Hello,
What a week this has been. Classes ended, finals started, I have two papers due by this Friday. . . I had a final exam yesterday, Intro to the Hebrew Bible. . . on a Saturday. . . I chuckled when I saw that on the schedule.
So, getting to the title of this post. . .
I'm posting another photo from my sepia series. I really like sepia photos, it emphasizes the contrast, without being as harsh as Black and White.

I took this with my Pentax MX and 80~200mm zoom lens. The tree was halfway down a hill, I climbed the hill, and zoomed most of the way in to crop out the other trees around it. I wanted just this tree against the sky.

Thank you Lord for the Hot Toddy!

I have had a cold for the past couple of days. Nothing too serious, just a raw, sore throat, a hacking and unproductive cough. Well tonight I remembered that my older sister was suffering a cold when she was in Scotland, and was made a hot toddy to "sweat it out of her." It worked for her, so I figured it was worth a shot. I had Scotch, I had lemon juice, I had tea, and I had sugar to make syrup. Here's the recipe I used:
1.5 ounces whiskey
1 ounce simple syrup
1/3 ounce lemon Juice
3 ounces tea (hot)

Wow, It helped my throat, and yes, started to sweat the cold out of me. I cannot stress enough what a miracle the Hot Toddy is. If anyone is suffering from a cold, make one, or two, you won't be disappointed.

P.S.
I used an 18 year old Macallan for the first one, then decided that no matter how nice it tasted, that was a waste of a wonderful Scotch, so I used a 10 year old Laphroaig for the second, it also tasted good, and the smokiness seemed to compliment the other flavors very nicely.
